The Association aims to address the rampant illegal gambling taking place across Africa. Combating illegal gambling is of significant benefit to our members since the presence of black-market impacts upon the reputation of the gambling industry as a whole.

In addition to violating the law, illegal gambling sites do not meet the required testing or regulatory standards to ensure fair play and security of personal and financial data. These operators are also not bound by age restrictions, meaning children and young adults can be exploited by these websites.

Licensed operators often implement rigorous responsible gaming protections and widely offer self-exclusion to assist users who may have difficulty controlling their play. Illegal gambling platforms do not implement such lists and as a result, the most vulnerable users are likely to end up using these sites.
